INCOMING GAA PRESIDENT Larry McCarthy says he has no further clarity on the format for the 2021 season but was “delighted” to see the motion regarding new penalties for cynical fouls passed at Congress.
Motion 20 was passed by an online vote earlier today, with 61% of delegates voting it through via video conference.

Legal advice sought by Tullamore GAA club in O Connor Park rent row

RELATIONS between Tullamore GAA Club and the Offaly County Board have been soured again over rental arrears relating to O Connor Park.
The County Board is citing financial difficulties caused by Covid-19 as the reason for their failure to pay the rent in 2020 in full but sources in the club say the problem pre-dates the pandemic by a number of years.
Tullamore GAA agreed to lease the ground to Offaly GAA for 35 years in 2002 at an annual rent of €44,304 but index-linking it with inflation results in an increase every three years.
Duignan calls on clubs to embrace appointment of full time coaches during Convention address

OFFALY GAA chairnman Michael Duignan made a passionate plea to clubs to embrace the appointment of full time coaches (Games Promotion Officers) in his address to Offaly GAA Convention on Tuesday night.
Mr Duignan told delegates that the appointment of full time club coaches was a pivotal part of his vision for improving playing standards of Offaly football and hurling teams.
The Durrow club man noted that Edenderry (Mairead Daly) have a full time GPO while the appointment of one in Tullamore has been approved and one is due to take place for Birr, Drumcullen and Seir Kieran GAA Clubs in January.
