10 Sundance Film Festival titles worth streaming The indie fest is largely a digital platform this year. Director Marilyn Agrelo’s Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street is a documentary about the origins of the beloved children’s TV show.(Luke Geissbühler / Sundance Institute) With films screening virtually and in-person at satellite locations across the country, Sundance is a hybrid independent film festival this year. In Dallas, the Texas Theatre is showing 13 movies, and three of them have Texas ties. But the majority of the weeklong program’s 70-plus feature films will only be available to North Texans through virtual screenings. Sundance: Screen Media Nabs Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street

Robert Fuhring/Courtesy Sesame Workshop/HBO The documentary chronicles the origins of the legendary childrens TV show Sesame Street and will bow in the Premieres section at Sundance. Screen Media has picked up the North American theatrical rights to the documentary Street Gang: How We Got to Sesame Street ahead of its world premiere at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival in the Premieres sidebar. Screen Media will release the HBO Documentary Film in theaters and on home entertainment in spring 2021. The HBO TV debut will follow the theatrical release and the documentary will also be available to stream on HBO Max next year.
