The time has come for even the common squirrel to step up into movie superhero stardom.
In Flora & Ulysses (streaming Friday on Disney+), young human Flora (Matilda Lawler) saves a squirrel s life, only to find the food-crazy mammal, dubbed Ulysses, has extraordinary powers.
It was a tough nut to keep the squirrel grounded in some sense of reality – in keeping with the character from the beloved Newbery Medal-winning 2013 children s book Flora & Ulysses – while also making Ulysses a bona fide hero with powers of flight, the ability to comprehend humans and the desire to fight injustice. I wanted Ulysses to be a legit, hard-core force of nature, says director Lena Khan. It had to be like, I can buy into this superhero.

New South Florida-based Art Provokes, Impresses at NSU Art Museum
Michel Delgado s These Complexes We Carry Every Day
The artists of the tri-county area have much to celebrate, as evidenced by “New Art South Florida,” the NSU Art Museum’s first new exhibition since the museum reopened in September. Featuring 13 recipients of 2020 South Florida Cultural Consortium awards, and curated by the museum’s own director, Bonnie Clearwater, “New Art” is a rich repository of diverse talent and a showcase of big, ambitious ideas. Though mostly completed prior to the U.S. arrival of the coronavirus and the racial-justice reckoning that followed, it is an exhibition that brims with front-of-mind issues for today’s youthful artists, from Earth changes and gender fluidity to income inequality and weapons of war.
Strengthening The Financial System To Meet The Challenge Of Climate Change, Federal Reserve Governor Lael Brainard At The Financial System & Climate Change: A Regulatory Imperative Hosted By The Center For American Progress, Washington, D.C. Date
18/12/2020
I want to thank the Center for American Progress for inviting me to join you in discussing climate change and the U.S. financial system.1 Let me start by noting these are my own views and do not necessarily reflect those of the Federal Reserve Board or the Federal Open Market Committee.
Climate change and the transition to a sustainable economy have important implications for the financial system. The financial system can be a powerful enabler to help the private sector manage climate-related risks and invest in the transition. It is vitally important to strengthen the U.S. financial system to meet the challenge of climate change.
