A Christchurch man has today denied murdering his flatmate.
Michael Joseph Graham, 57, was found dead at a house on England St, Linwood, last month.

Today at his second appearance at the High Court in Christchurch, his lawyer Bridget Ayrey said Te Hana pleads not guilty to the charge of murder.
Nathan Ihaka Te Hana on the screen in the High Court in Christchurch during a previous appearance. Police were called on January 3 after it was reported that Graham needed medical assistance. He was declared dead at the scene. Te Hana was arrested two days later. He first appeared in the Christchurch District Court on the same day Graham had been scheduled to appear on charges of wilful damage, assaulting police and resisting police. Justice Cameron Mander remanded Te Hana in custody to May 7. A trial date has been set down for May next year.

If the charges are to be defended, a likely trial will begin on May 2, next year.

A man who allegedly murdered a man in a Christchurch state house has appeared in the High Court. Christchurch man Michael Joseph Graham, 57, died at a Kāinga Ora property in England St, Linwood on January 3. Nathan Ihaka Te Hana, aged 46, who lived at the same property, has been charged with his murder. Te Hana appeared via video-link in the High Court in Christchurch on Thursday. His defence counsel said he was not ready to enter a plea and requested the case be postponed.
