Safe from the Start Act by Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) along with 10 additional sponsors. This bipartisan bill will ensure that the U.S. prioritizes the needs of women and girls in responding to humanitarian emergencies. This legislation works specifically to prevent gender-based violence (GBV), including child marriage, domestic violence and human trafficking, at the onset of a humanitarian emergency and to fully address its impacts.

CARE Launches #ImEveryWoman Campaign for International Women’s Day to Advance Women’s Equality
ATLANTA (March 8, 2021) – On the heels of being announced the winner of Engage for Good’s 2021 Golden Halo Award for non-profit, leading global humanitarian organization, CARE® marked International Women’s Day today with the launch of its #ImEveryWoman campaign – an effort to recognize the strength, resilience, and leadership of Every Woman around the world, especially in the face of colossal challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking its name from the iconic empowerment anthem ‘I’m Every Woman,’ the campaign kicked off with CARE’s release of a remake of the classic song, featuring the legendary Chaka Khan, who originated it, Broadway and Tony winner Idina Menzel, and produced by Grammy winner & songwriter Tena Clark.
CARE Welcomes the Executive Order on Establishment of the White House Gender Policy Council
(March 8, 2021 , Washington D.C) – CARE welcomes the Executive Order on Establishment of the White House Gender Policy Council issued by President Biden today formally establishing the White House Gender Policy Council. This Executive Order creates the Council within the Executive Office of President and defines its policy priorities, including many that are aligned with issues CARE and partners have pushed to advance, such as –
Mandating a government-wide strategy to address gender through U.S. Government policies, programs, and budgets and a report to measure progress;
Elevating the issue of gender-based violence both domestically and globally by appointing a Special Assistant to the President and Senior Advisor on Gender-Based Violence on Council staff and mandating a National Action Plan to End Gender-Based Violence;
