KOCO 5 was tracking the storms that moved through the Oklahoma City metro Tuesday morning.Normally in May, Oklahomans are concerned about tornadoes, hail and wind. During Tuesday morning s storms, lighting struck a Guthrie home and shocked a woman inside.Lightning normally strikes the tallest thing connected to the ground.Neighbors told the woman that two bolts hit the house, caused the deck to catch fire and sent shingles flying all the way to the curb. The woman, named Carrie, was teaching an online class on a laptop, and the lightning came through it and shocked her.Carrie called her husband, and he rushed home from Del City to find holes in the roof.The Guthrie Fire Department arrived quickly and made sure the fire didn t damage the rest of the home. CELEBRATING TWISTER S 25TH ANNIVERSARY: Wakita museum ready to celebrate 25th anniversary of iconic movie Twister

The iconic movie Twister hit theaters on May 10, 1996. Twenty-five years later, the Twister Movie Museum in Wakita is ready to celebrate the anniversary. They told us we d have visitors for a couple of years, said Linda Wade, a Wakita resident and the museum s director.That forecast was a little off. Wade said two years turned into 25, and people still come from all over the world. This is a real Dorothy, the one that was used in all the demolition scenes, Wade said. There are some pretty ones out there, but mine is the one with character. Bill Paxton, who died in 2017, is remembered fondly at the museum. He was one of our favorite stars, Wade said. He played football the whole time he was in Wakita and actually donated the football to the museum a few years after the movie.
