Spanish gov t equips GIS to curb irregular migration  - The Chronicle Online

GIS officials inspecting the vehicles and other logistics The Spanish government has donated some fleets of vehicles to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and the police to augment their effort in dealing with irregular migration. The gesture is also to strengthen effective patrolling of Ghana’s borders to ensure safety. Receiving the items on behalf of the two security agencies, Mr Ambrose Dery, Minister-Designate forInterior indicated that Spain is the partner that the ministry needs to fulfill the President’s vision of making Ghana a safer place. Recounting the numerous donations the Ministry has received from the Spanish government so far, Mr Dery said that Spain has been very supportive of the Ministry in fighting irregular migration and human trafficking.

Spanish Government Presents Vehicles To Ghana

  The Spanish government has presented vehicles and computer accessories to the Ministry of the Interior to aid the operations of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) and the Ghana Police Service (GPS). The items include four pick-up vehicles, four All- Terrain Vehicles and computer accessories. One of the pick-up vehicles will be presented to the Ghana Police Service. Mrs Christiana Gallach, the Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Spain, on behalf of the delegation, said the presentation was to support the fight irregular migration and cross-border crimes. She said Spain would continue to show her full support and commitment to Ghana because of the deep relationship between the two countries.
