Xfinity Breakdown: Fresh Tires Boost Kyle Busch To Surprise Henry 180 Victory At Road America

Xfinity Breakdown: Fresh Tires Boost Kyle Busch to Surprise Henry 180 Victory at Road America July 3, 2021 Tires were the topic of conversation for much of Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America. Some teams planned to save enough fuel to go the entire distance of the Henry 180 on two stops to save a fresh set of tires for a late-race caution. Others wanted to pit to keep the freshest rubber underneath them at all times. In the end, AJ Allmendinger abused his front tires as he charged through the field. Under caution for the conclusion of stage two, the No. 16 Kaulig Racing team was penalized for men over the wall too soon. Allmendinger then methodically worked his way back to the front. The race restarted for the final time with six laps remaining on lap 40, and Allmendinger took the lead from Noah Gragson in turn 9. Both were on older tires compared to third-place Kyle Busch.

NASCAR only allows Cup Series drivers to compete in five Xfinity and five Truck Series races a year. Busch is scheduled to enter his final Xfinity event of the season next week at Atlanta.

DFS NASCAR Xfinity: Henry 180

DFS NASCAR Xfinity: Henry 180 Written by  Henry 180 Race Preview Road America will host both the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Series races this holiday weekend. Austin Cindric won last year s Xfinity stop at the circuit from the front row. This week s lineup will be set by on-track qualifying Saturday morning before the race. Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, and AJ Allmendinger all have won on road courses already this season. All three of those drivers will be looking to add to their series win totals this week as well. For its part, Road America has spread the wins around. In 11 series races at the track not one repeat winner has surfaced. All but one of those races were won by drivers starting inside the first six rows, too. For those reasons, fantasy players will want to pay close attention to Friday s lone practice session, while remaining flexible with their lineups to accommodate adjustments following Saturday s qualifying.
