White House Wedges Pro-Union Provisions Into Infrastructure Plan
President Joe Biden tacked on measures to his infrastructure plan that make it easier for workers to organize and more difficult for them to avoid unionization.
“[The plan will] create good-quality jobs … while ensuring workers have a free and fair choice to organize, join a union, and bargain collectively with their employers,” the White House said in a press release.
Biden also urged Congress to pass the pro-union Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act as part of the infrastructure plan.

In October 2019, New Mexico Rep. Deb Haaland led a House subcommittee hearing on the effects of anti-government extremism on federal land management officials. The Government Accountability Office had recently documented more than 350 incidents of threats and assaults targeting land management employees between 2013 and 2017.
As the watchdog group noted, even that data did not capture the full picture, in part because not all incidents are reported. Some officials told investigators they “consider receiving threats a normal part of their job.”

Las Vegas City Council approves drive-thru marijuana dispensaries
It was a 6-0 vote on the bill sponsored by Councilwoman Michele Fiore of Ward 6.
The move is similar to that made by the Clark County Commission in August 2020 to allow for drive-thru cannabis operations in that jurisdiction.
A rep for local dispensary Thrive Cannabis Marketplace says they’re elated that they will now be allowed to look into adding drive-thru windows at their City of Las Vegas locations.
“We’ve currently been operating a drive-thru cannabis dispensary in North Las Vegas, as the regulations are little bit different there. We’ve been operating that since July of 2020. And it has been a great way for us to process more customers and patients throughout the day due to the capacity restrictions,” said Ashley Blackwood, director of compliance at Thrive Cannabis Marketplace.
