Facebook is taking a closer look at its rules after Trump decision

Facebook is taking a closer look at its rules after Trump decision CNET 3 days ago © Provided by CNET Angela Lang/CNET Facebook Chief Technology Officer Mike Schroepfer said Tuesday that the social media giant will know in the coming weeks and months what the long term plan is around how it ll handle the indefinite suspension of former US President Donald Trump from its platform . Marc Benioff Slams Facebook Over 'Supreme Court' Ruling

Benioff said Facebook s board was right to pass the Trump case back to the company. The executive also said CEOs shouldn t delegate their core values to outsiders. The board refused Facebook s request to decide the duration of Trump s suspension. Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff called out Facebook over the company s decision to delegate a significant content moderation issue to its Supreme Court of independent reviewers. He made the comments a week after Facebook s Oversight Board, which was created to review its moderation decisions, ruled that it would not decide how long former President Donald Trump would be suspended as the company asked it to do. Instead, that is Facebook s responsibility to decide, the board said.

Facebook says it has reached net zero emissions

Last modified on Fri 16 Apr 2021 12.09 EDT Facebook has reached net zero emissions, the company has announced, paving the way for it to achieve its wider target of net zero emissions across its entire supply chain by 2030. The social network said it had reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 94% over the past three years, and its operations were now supported by 100% renewable energy. “We set these goals in 2018 and today we are one of the largest corporate buyers of renewable energy,” Facebook said. “We have contracts in place for more than six gigawatts of wind and solar energy across 18 states and five countries. All 63 projects are new and located on the same electrical grids as the data centres they support.”
