Creston Boy Scout restores park gazebo to former glory
Village thankful the job is finally done
CRESTON Coen Giroux was looking for a challenge in his pursuit to become an Eagle Scout. He found it in the village community park where his Boy Scouts troop meets regularly.
“I looked at the gazebo and it didn’t look in good shape. I wanted to give back. It looked like a challenge and I said, ‘This is it. This is it here,’” said Giroux, 15, a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 455 in Creston.
Giroux oversaw the complete renovation of the park’s 30-year-old gazebo for his Eagle Scout project. He worked with his father, Don, Scoutmaster Keith Haynes and family friend Tim Lawrence and his grandson, Braxton, to make the gazebo the focal point of the park once again.

Major League Rugby in North America beckoned. I d been watching the league while I was in the U.K. still and I was kind of at a crossroads with where I wanted to go next, said the 28-year-old from Godmanchester, Que. And then when the MLR kind of popped up, I looked at all the cities and I said Where is the place I d least likely end up?
