Massachusetts has 3.1 million acres of forest covering about 60% of the state. About 2 million acres of that forest land is owned by private landowners. Our forests are essential to: protect wildlife habitat; provide clean air and water; provide forest products that we all use; provide economic benefits and jobs sustained by the forest economy; and to help mitigate climate change. Forests in Massachusetts sequester 15% of the state’s annual carbon emissions annually but with good forest management we could increase that to as much as 25% while greatly reducing our use of imported fossil fuels making it easier to get to net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Chauhan and his store in Airdrie
Spar Scotland are continuing their growth trend, welcoming the latest addition of independent retailer Jignesh Chauhan and his store in Airdrie.
Having been with Day Today for more than four years, Chauhan was interested in discovering more after hearing positive feedback from family with SPAR stores south of the border. After visiting Spar Scotland stores and experiencing them first-hand, Chauhan committed to becoming part of the SPAR Scotland family, deciding it was the place to be.
Mike Leonard, sales director for Spar Scotland, said: “We’re delighted Jignesh has made the decision to join our increasing ranks of independent retailers. The feedback from other SPAR retailers is proof just how important word of mouth is as we continue to attract new business into Spar Scotland.
Independent retailer Jignesh Chauhan, based in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, has joined Spar Scotland. Chauhan was previously with Day Today for more than four years, but decided to make the move after "hearing positive feedback" from a family with Spar stores south of the border. The 695sq ft store, at 19-21 Stirling Street in Airdrie, has undergone a makeover, improving its range and appearance. Customers can now pick up food-to-go options in-store such as Smoking Bean
By any standard, that is completely inappropriate.
Fortunately, times have changed. Our society has made enormous strides exposing and removing inappropriate conduct in the workplace. Here in B.C., we have strived to create a more welcoming environment and diverse culture for our waterfront workforce.
The 10,000 women and men who make up B.C.’s waterfront workforce are the ones who keep Canadians supplied with the goods they rely on, from medical necessities and food to construction equipment and even our smartphones. In return, those same people support the nation’s economy by ensuring Canadian grain, wood, extracted materials, manufactured goods and so much more reaches world markets. They unload ocean carriers, operate cranes, drive heavy lift-trucks and work in administration offices. Employees and employers, union and management.
