A Hingham developer is proposing to put up a new residential building behind Fox Hall on Columbia Road at Arion Street that would include an upgrade for occupants of 15 single-room-occupancy units in the current building - their own studio apartments.
In a letter of intent filed with the BPDA, Mike Rooney s JLCD Development says the project would include construction of a four-to-six story building on what is now a parking lot behind Fox Hall, which dates to the late 1800s.
Current SRO residents would get to stay in their existing units until this building is finished, at which point they would be offered studios there, according to the letter from JLCD s lawyer. The company would then renovate Fox Hall s upper floors, while letting existing ground-floor commercial tenants stay in place.

and last updated 2021-01-23 10:46:45-05 We started with the idea of keeping holiday lights on in order to send a sign of support. Then, the Boy Scout troop reached out to us with this idea of adding luminaria to add an extra gesture of love and support,â says Lisa Cordingley, the Executive Director of the Helena Education Foundation. âOf course, February 14th is a great day to do that.
The Helena Education Foundation wanted to commemorate all those working in the pandemic by encouraging the community to keep their holiday lights on since December 2020. Now, Helena Boy Scouts have stepped in for a service project, making luminaria kits for a grand community light display on the 14th of February, 2021. Downtown Helena Inc. is also involved by creating free signs spreading the word of the event (pictured above).
Over the past 10 months, The Berkshires has shifted from a weekend cultural hub to a full-time abode for many urbanites; pinned as the ultimate socially-distanced haven amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.
New York Cityâs West Village, SoHo, Upper East Side and Brooklyn Heights quickly became ghost towns, losing up to 40 percent of residents between March and May, according to a report by The New York Times. The Berkshire Eagle recently spoke with four New Yorkers who shared their experiences riding out a once-in-a-century pandemic hunkered down in The Berkshires.
Mike Rooney left the Upper East Side of Manhattan with his wife and newborn in March. They now reside at her motherâs house in Lenox, where they both work remotely for tech companies.
Montana lawmakers reject mask mandate ahead of session
By IRIS SAMUELSDecember 17, 2020 GMT
HELENA, Mont. (AP) Republican state lawmakers in Montana rejected proposals Wednesday by Democrats to require masks at next month’s legislative session or meet remotely, opting instead to form a panel that will assess what’s needed to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Republicans, who hold majorities in both legislative chambers, also declined to delay the session until the vaccine is widely available. Small businesses depend on swift action from the Legislature to survive, said Sen. Jason Ellsworth, a Republican from Hamilton who drafted the proposal to create the panel.
