GREENWOOD TWP- Incumbents Larry Tahija and Byron Beihoffer lost their bids for reelection to the Greenwood Town Board during the township election on Tuesday. Tahija lost to Barb Lofquist 167-160, while Beihoffer lost by a much wider margin to former clerk Sue Drobac, 184-144.
Interest in the election was high this year, and turnout topped last year’s totals, with at least 328 voters casting ballots, compared to fewer than 300 last March.
ABI survey: Two-thirds of companies expect sales to increase in second quarter Wednesday, March 10, 2021 11:20 AM Iowa manufacturers anticipate strong sales in the second quarter, according to results of the latest ABI Quarterly Iowa Business Survey. “This is fabulous news for Iowans, especially when you consider the pandemic and where we were a year ago,” ABI President Mike Ralston said in a news release.
The survey, which included responses from 31 ABI member companies, showed that 65% of survey respondents expect sales to expand over the next quarter, up from 55% in the first quarter and 47% one year ago.
Ralston attributes the extra growth to pent-up demand and low inventories. “Many people saved more money during the pandemic,” he said. “Now they’re ready to spend that money.”

Gov. Kim Reynolds gets the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine
during a news conference at Iowa PBS in Johnston on Wednesday.
DES MOINESÂ â When the COVID-19 pandemic first reached Iowa, Gov. Kim Reynolds assured Iowans her administration was ready.
âI want Iowans to know that I am confident that we are prepared, that we take this situation seriously and we will manage it responsibly,â Reynolds said during a press conference held just after the first three cases of the virus were confirmed in Iowa, exactly one year ago Monday.
One year later, Iowa is in the bottom third of U.S. states for the most critical public health figures, but the stateâs economy and state finances appear to be strong. And opinions on the stateâs pandemic response are mixed.
