In the City Council’s session last Friday, February 5, Vice Mayor Michael Rama took a swipe at Mayor Edgardo Labella for alleged dismal handling of the COVID-19 situation in the city.
“Mayor Edgardo Colina Labella, please lend me your ears, I want to be emphatic to you. I am not after your position, but we need to do something. If you think if you cannot be back at City Hall. If you think if your situation cannot bring your body and soul to manage City Hall, please you know what to do,” said Rama.

ONE DAY AFTER Vice Mayor Michael Rama challenged in open session of the Cebu City Council Mayor Edgardo Labella to decide “what’s best for the city,” the mayor curtly told him, “let’s focus on work,” “now is not the time for bickering,” and “put aside politics.”

SITUATION ON COVID SPIKE. Retired general Melquiades Feliciano, Visayas chief implementer of the national task force against Covid-19, told the Cebu City Council Wednesday, February 3, that the increase to double-digit figures in positive cases in the city in January, from single-digit numbers in December, were caused by:
(a) Christmas activities and other mass gatherings of people and relaxed enforcement of health protocols during the holidays;
