Wyoming distributes CARES Act funding to hospitality industry | Kiowa County Press - Eads, Colorado, News and Information

Published Tuesday, December 29, 2020 by Sarah Downey | The Center Square (The Center Square) - Payments are being sent to hospitality businesses impacted by Wyoming s new COVID-19 mitigation policy that includes closing bars and restaurants from 10:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. through January 8. It s time to compensate for the loss of business during that time, Mike Moser, executive director of the Wyoming Liquor Association, told The Center Square. This will help us slow up the case curve and keep businesses afloat. Money for the Governor s Hospitality Loss Relief Program is being provided through federal CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act funding that the state is due to distribute by the end of the year.

Sen Friesen talks highways 30 and 275 delays

With the planned expansion of highways 30 and 275 still delayed in eastern Nebraska, State Sens. Mike Moser and Curt Friesen met with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce’s Transportation Committee Thursday afternoon to look at options. Committee member Dennis Grennan opened discussion at the meeting, which had an audience of 20 in person and 35 attendees via Zoom, updating where the committee is at with its concerns regarding the completion of the Nebraska Expressway System. The expressway project, passed by the legislature in 1988, includes expanding 600 miles of two-lane roads into four-lane highways. It had been planned to be completed in 15 years but, 32 years later, 30% of the project remains uncompleted.

WyoFile: Cops, Towns, Counties and Industry Divided Over New Health Orders

Personal beliefs and local politics are driving inconsistent, often contradictory responses to Wyoming’s health orders from law enforcement, local elected officials and business leaders. In the expanded public-health orders signed Dec. 7, the state left enforcement of both a mask mandate and a bar and restaurant curfew to local officials. The orders drew wide support from the state’s principal industries, healthcare organizations and even its Republican congressional delegation, but the reactions of would-be enforcers across the state have been far from universally cooperative. Mark Gordon and State Health Officer Dr. Alexia Harrist as unenforceable because it would require law enforcement to assess someone’s medical condition.
