IT security awareness and training firm KnowBe4 acquires MediaPRO

Social engineering scams, like CEO scams, USB seeding, or caller ID spoofing, remain a major security risk for businesses. There’s always a danger that a well-meaning employee could mistakenly be the gateway for hackers. KnowBe4 is perhaps best-known for its association with legendary “black hat” hacker Kevin Mitnick, who became a renowned IT security consultant after serving prison time.  In his hacking days, when he targeted Motorola, Nokia, Sun Microsystems, and others, Mitnick didn’t use software-hacking tools to compromise computers. Instead, he used social engineering to gain passwords and codes. Mitnick is now KnowBe4’s “chief hacking officer.”

(PayScale Photo) Seattle-based compensation data and technology company PayScale is merging with Payfactors, a compensation data management company based in the Boston area, joining forces in a new effort to capitalize on growing demand from corporate leaders grappling with issues of employee pay equity and remote work. “They’ve been a great competitor,” PayScale CEO Scott Torrey said, referring to Payfactors in an interview. “Competitors make you better and stronger. But at some point, you’d much rather join forces than continue to battle it out.”

Love s Travel Stop Expected To Break Ground In Spring | News, Sports, Jobs

Photo by Roger Coda A new $13 million travel stop in Ripley is expected to break ground this spring and be completed before the year is out. During the Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency’s Board of Director’s meeting, Linda Burns and Milan Tyler gave a presentation on the proposed Love’s Travel Stop and Country Stores. Love’s is proposed to be located at the first New York exit for the Thruway on Shortman Road, where the former Colonial Squire Motel is located. The facility will consist of a convenience store, a fast food restaurant and a tire repair building. There will be separate areas for truck and auto fueling as well as separate auto and truck parking areas.
