Motivated to return this fall by an injury-plagued 2020 season that was cut short due to a pandemic, Aidan Hutchinson spoke of the need to “reset the culture” at Michigan.
The Wolverines’ star defensive end could have turned pro. He could have opted out of the season last fall and declared for the NFL draft right then and there. He came to Michigan as a quiet, soft-spoken wide receiver. And over the last four years, Brad Hawkins has transformed into a dependable defensive back.
Now in his fifth year, Hawkins returned for one more season and an opportunity, he says, to “create more value for myself.”
“Playing in a different system, doing things that benefit me and help me out with my game,” Hawkins told reporters in March. “Just being versatile and playing different positions. Talking with my family, I thought me coming back was a great decision for me.”

Paea, who is set to graduate this spring, said in a post on social media that his decision came “after a long discussion with my family and countless prayers.” He has three years of eligibility remaining.
