In yet another story purporting to confirm the left’s view of the world, Jana Winter reported in Yahoo News Friday that “the U.S. government is acknowledging for the first time that right-wing extremists were responsible for the majority of fatal domestic terrorist attacks last year, according to an internal report circulated by the Department of Homeland Security last week.” But as you might expect, it’s long on vague assertions and decidedly short on facts.
The report was produced by the Joint Regional Intelligence Center, which Winter describes as “a DHS-funded fusion center,” and was sent out to police nationwide. It claims that civil unrest and violence last year were primarily associated with “non-affiliated, right-wing and left-wing actors,” and that “right-wing [domestic violent extremists] were responsible for the majority of fatal attacks in the Homeland in 2020.”
When Christian Michael Mackey drove to a parking lot in Grand Prairie to allegedly sell an AM-15 rifle on Jan. 29, he didn’t care that the person buying the firearm was a self-proclaimed felon. What Mackey wanted to know was whether the buyer was “based,” meaning a fellow traveler of the white nationalist movement.
The buyer was a paid source for the FBI, the Department of Justice said in a press release on Monday. Agents arrested Mackey and charged him with the unlawful sale of a firearm. He appeared in court on Monday, and his detention hearing is set for Wednesday.
Here are the potential terrorist threats to the Super Bowl, according to the FBI and DHS Jana Winter
Iran, the Islamic State group, and domestic extremists: These are just a few of the myriad potential threats to the Super Bowl this year, according to a government threat assessment obtained by Yahoo News.
The Jan. 27 document, a product of federal agencies, including the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, and local law enforcement, notes that there is no information on a specific credible threat planned against the Super Bowl but outlines a variety of potential threats, from terrorists poisoning the food or water supply to an attack using commercial drones. It also states “the FBI and DHS remain concerned about potential retaliatory attacks” by Iran in response to the U.S. assassination of Gen. Qassem Soleimani last year.
