Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy figures show that CO2 emissions in the area dropped by 4.8% in 2019 – the latest available data – compared to the year before. Transport was responsible for emitting the largest amount of CO2 in Sedgemoor in 2019 – 430,000 tonnes. There has been no improvement in emissions from the sector, the data shows, with CO2 levels rising by 1.6% over a decade. But between 2009 and 2019, overall CO2 emissions in Sedgemoor dropped by 27.1%. The figures also cover household emissions, as well those from the industrial, commercial and public sectors.

There has been no improvement in emissions from the sector, the data shows, with CO2 levels rising by 2.7% over a decade. But between 2009 and 2019, overall CO2 emissions in South Somerset dropped by 23.6%.
