ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) A five-day vaccination clinic has opened at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Anchorage.
The clinic that opened on Saturday is only open to state residents and workers but is aimed at serving as a test run for Alaska s scheduled program to offer coronavirus vaccines to tourists, the Anchorage Daily News reported.
The project will “determine how best to vaccinate people in an airport environment,” the state Department of Health and Social Services said in a statement.
Republican Gov. Mike Dunleavy said earlier this month that coronavirus vaccines would be available at key airports in the state starting June 1, a plan that attempts to bolster the state’s tourist industry.

The filing deadline is still almost two months away, but several people already have filed as candidates for local city and school board positions.
As of Tuesday morning, three people had filed as candidates for the Leavenworth City Commission. They are Griff Martin, Maren Hart and Edd Hingula.
All of Leavenworth’s city commissioners serve in at-large positions rather than representing individual wards or districts. This means each candidate for the City Commission can live anywhere in the city.
Three seats on the Leavenworth City Commission are up for election this year. Those seats currently are held by Mike Griswold, Jermaine Wilson and Mark Preisinger.
