Toyota Unveils GR010 Hybrid Le Mans Hypercar

Toyota Gazoo Racing is the first constructor to unveil its Le Mans Hyperclass prototype, the GR010 Hybrid. Designed over the last 18 months by teams based in Germany and Japan, the prototype is the racing version of a road-going hypercar that Toyota plans to launch in the near future.
As Toyota Gazoo Racing is the reigning champion in the FIA World Endurance Championship and the defending Le Mans winner, having won the legendary 24-hour race all three times since 2018, there are big expectations for this new prototype.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing introduces GR010 hybrid hypercar for WEC
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has launched the all-new GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar, which will compete in the 2021 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).
The reigning World Champions and three-time Le Mans winners will defend those titles against new manufacturer competitors using a racing version of the upcoming hypercar road car, featuring powertrain technology developed in the TS050 HYBRID and highlighted via new Racing Hybrid branding.
The GR010 HYBRID is a prototype racer developed over the last 18 months in partnership by engineers at the team’s headquarters in Cologne, Germany and the electric hybrid powertrain experts at Higashi-Fuji in Japan.

This is the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, the car that the automaker will compete with in the newly-formed Le Mans Hypercar class of the World Endurance Championship.
Powering the car is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, significantly larger than the 2.4-liter unit used by Toyota’s retired TS050 LMP1 car. Working alongside the internal combustion engine is a front-axle hybrid system that delivers 268 hp. Total power of the car is capped at 670 hp. To meet this cap on power, the GR010 Hybrid’s advanced electronics reduced engine power depending on how much hybrid boost is being deployed at any given time.
