JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - A Jackson County man died after being fatally shot Friday night, according to authorities.
Deputies responded to the scene around 10:30 p.m. Friday night at a home in the Virginia City Community, north of Ocean Springs, according to Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell.
Officials identified the victim as 29-year-old Joseph Aaron Posey.
Sheriff Ezell said no charges are filed at this time, and the shooting remains under investigation. The sheriff also said the incident appears to be domestic related.

PASCAGOULA, Miss. (AP) A sheriff in south Mississippi says he will challenge U.S. Rep. Steven Palazzo in the 2022 Republican primary.
Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell announced his campaign Wednesday. He said in a statement that he believes his experience as a law enforcement officer “has prepared me to go to Washington and fight back against those who seek to radically change this great country.”
Palazzo is a military veteran and former state lawmaker who was first elected to the U.S. House in 2010 when he unseated Democratic Rep. Gene Taylor. He allied himself with Donald Trump during Trump s presidency from January 2017 until early this year. Palazzo is expected to seek another two-year term in 2022.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell announced his campaign for U.S. Congress in Mississippiâs Fourth Congressional District Wednesday.
The seat is currently held by Rep. Steven Palazzo, who told WLOX that he plans to run for re-election in 2022. Palazzo is currently facing an investigation by the Office of Congressional Ethics.
Ezell is a Republican who has served as Jackson County Sheriff since 2014 when he was first elected in a special election. He was re-elected to the position in 2015 and 2019. Ezell has 40 years of service in law enforcement, including working in the Pascagoula Police Department and serving as chief of police for the Ocean Springs Police Department.

Ezell made the formal announcement on the steps of the Jackson County Courthouse in Pascagoula during a press conference.
