Fund managers probably know better than most that no industry is immune from disruption. Few, if any, stockpickers today would invest in diesel cars over electric vehicles. Yet when it comes to capitalising on some changes to their own sector, they have been slower to react. They have proven especially lacklustre in offering institutional investors any kind of autonomy over shareholder governance in pooled funds. All too often, pension funds would be told how their fund manager would vote at forthcoming AGMs, and if they did not like it, they could effectively lump it.

26-year-old Kendall L. Einhorn was taken to Clay County Hospital after a single-vehicle accident near Enterprise yesterday morning. Wayne County deputies say he was northbound on Enterprise Road, ramped off a ditch embankment, went airborne over a county roadway, and came to rest after striking another embankment. A tow truck was called to the scene, and the vehicle sustained over $1,500 damage. The Grayville City Council met last night and discussed a ban on planting trees, shrubbery, or other flora in public right-of-ways. Some members felt small ornamentals could be fine, but others said things planted today could be problems tomorrow. The council will move forward with developing the language for the ordinance before holding any vote.

  KITCHENER “He was a guy you felt you can sit down, and trust, and open up too.” That’s how friends will remember Mike Everett, the Kitchener man who dedicated much of his life to helping people who were struggling with addiction. Everett, the founder of “Struggles of our City”, died on Nov. 24 at the age of 35. Those who knew Everett say he impacted the lives of everyone he met. “The guy had a heart of gold,” says Rick King. “I told him the second or third day we met: ‘You and I are going to be really tight friends from now until the end. ”
