The site, which city staff say has been been a target of break-ins and is becoming dangerous to have standing, was previously approved for demolition and $350,000 was set aside for the job.
A citizen has asked council to reconsider the decision and potentially invest in refurbishing the decades-old arena, which has been used for equipment storage as it awaits demolition, city staff said.
Council voted 6-3 Monday to wait until its May 3 meeting to hear more before awarding the demolition contract.
