Geidam: Buni summons expanded security meeting

Following the sad and unfortunate events in Gaidam, headquarters of Gaidam Local Government area of Yobe state from last Friday when Boko Haram terrorists attacked the town, Governor Mai Mala Buni (Chiroman Gujba) convened a special, expanded security meeting Tuesday 27th April 2021 to discuss the situation and suggest actionable steps that could be taken to address the security challenges in the area and secure people’s lives and property.
The meeting was attended by a cross-section of stakeholders, including senior government functionaries from the executive and legislative branches, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and representatives from the army, police, civil defence, and the Department of State Services, amongst others.
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has condemned the recent attack on the Geidam community by Boko Haram insurgents in the state.
He appealed to all residents in the state to expose every bad egg in the communities, even if they were their relations.
Governor Buni made the plea at a special security meeting with government officials, traditional rulers, and security agencies on Tuesday at Government House in Damaturu, the state capital.
“As leaders and citizens in our respective communities, we must volunteer credible and timely information to the security agencies to enhance proactive action in curbing the menace and havoc caused by the terrorists.
Policy House flays killing of three Greenfield students
Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, is seeking special military intervention to protect Geidam and other border communities with Niger.
This is as Incentive-Based Programme (IBP) of Policy House International condemned the killing of three Greenfield University students by bandits in Kaduna State.
Boko Haram had attacked Geidam, 180 kilometres north of Damaturu, many times in the last five years. Houses, military and police posts were torched.
Other border communities the governor pencilled for protection include Yunusari, Yusufari and Machina northwest of Borno State. x
Director-General for Press and Media to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, stated in Damaturu yesterday: “Buni sought special military intervention to safeguard Geidam and three other border communities.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday launched last-ditch efforts to stop the Governor of Zamfara State, Mr. Bello Matawalle, from defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Naija247news reports that the party held a series of meetings and consulted with critical stakeholders on how to stop the governor, who’s rumoured to be planning to defect to APC on April 14, from doing so.
It was gathered that as part of strategies to stop the governor from leaving the PDP, the party’s National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, will lead other members of the National Working Committee ((NWC) of the party to visit Matawalle tomorrow.
