Traveling to Hawaii Is Really Complicated Right Now. Here’s How I Did It Fodor s 2/18/2021 Stacey Lastoe © Provided by Fodor s Thirty-six hours. That’s how much time I had before my flight out of New York City, final destination Maui, when I received a text message about my COVID test results. Insufficient specimen. “Insufficient specimen!” I repeated, in an increasingly panicked tone, as I tore into the bedroom where my husband was packing for the big birthday trip. My big birthday trip. “I can’t tell if you’re joking,” my husband, Steve, said both because it is a thing we do with one another and also because his test results had come back negative only an hour earlier. There was no way this person I shared spit with didn’t have the virus but I did.

100 top restaurants for takeout in Boston and beyond

100 top restaurants for takeout in Boston and beyond Globe food writers reveal where to pick up some of the very best meals from local, independent restaurants. By Devra First and Kara Baskin Globe Staff and Globe Correspondent,Updated February 11, 2021, 10:02 a.m. Email to a Friend A month ago, The Boston Globe launched Project Takeout, an initiative asking you to do your (delicious) civic duty: Get food to go that you can afford from a local, independent restaurant. Restaurants are in a fight for their lives due to the pandemic, but takeout doesn’t just support these small businesses that are such an integral part of our cities and neighborhoods. It supports those they employ. Pre-pandemic, 1 in 10 Massachusetts jobs was located within the four walls of a restaurant. Tom Krasovic: San Diego-John Lynch connection was strong when Hall of Fame came for ex-safety [The San Diego Union-Tribune :: BC-FBN-KRASOVIC-COLUMN:SD]

FAIRFIELD-SUISUN, CALIFORNIA Tom Krasovic: San Diego-John Lynch connection was strong when Hall of Fame came for ex-safety [The San Diego Union-Tribune :: BC-FBN-KRASOVIC-COLUMN:SD] When the Pro Football Hall of Fame came for John Lynch, it did not come lightly to the front door. “The loudest knock I’ve ever heard and probably the best knock I’ve ever heard,” Lynch said Sunday morning. If the door-bang of Hall executive David Baker stunned the Lynch household in San Diego, where the former NFL safety and Torrey Pines High alum was relaxing with family members ahead of the NFC championship game, it was also true to a football career in which Lynch rammed NFL opponents, earning him an “enforcer” reputation that ultimately won him election in his eight trip as a finalist.

One of the busiest is Uppa Yard, specializing in Jamaican cuisine. The restaurant is run by father and son Oliver Edwards and Oliver Edwards, Jr. It recently moved into its home on 4943 W. Fond Du Lac after needing a larger space than the one that previously housed it a few doors down. The interior is painted in black, yellow and green, the colors of the Jamaican flag. Ragga (not to be confused with reggae) music, a fast and exuberant Jamaican sub-genre with rapped lyrics blasts over the speakers. There is a waiting area with a wraparound banquette and the dining area has tables separated by plastic dividers, complying with COVID safety precautions.
