Poor labourer complains of hurdles in getting CNIC for wife

TIMERGARA: A poor labourer on Monday demanded the Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad and high-ups of the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to take notice of the hurdles being created for him in the acquiring of computerised national identity card (CNIC) for his wife.
Talking to reporters in Lower Dir district headquarters Timergara, Liaquat Ali, from Batal Usherai in Upper Dir district, said that he was a daily wager working in Timergara and residing in Zulam Pul area for the last three years.
“Last week, I visited Mardan along with my wife and children in connection with my wife’s treatment and I faced immense difficulties as my wife had no CNIC,” Liaquat Ali said, adding that on his return from Mardan, he decided to apply for his wife’s CNIC.
Politicians vow to work for KP’s peace

PESHAWAR: Former and sitting elected representatives from various political parties on Sunday agreed to collectively work for the restoration of peace in the province after withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
The former nazims, councillors, divisional and district presidents, including the ones from the merged tribal districts, former candidates for national and provincial assemblies and retired bureaucrats, attended the meeting convened by former federal minister and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti at Islamabad on Saturday night.
In his welcome address, Khwaja Hoti thanked the participants and underlined the importance of peace after the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government is seeking $300 million from the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank Group to help improve access to and quality of basic services in vulnerable communities in the districts recently merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Following the merger, residents of the merged areas have expressed increased expectations for improved service delivery, particularly in the areas of clean water, food security, education and health. In 2018, newly merged areas were brought under the legal system and governmental authority of KP government.
