Uptown Beer Co. Presents Chili Con III: The Search for Spork
To close out the month of February,
Uptown Beer Co. will host its third edition of Chili Con. However, for this year’s event,
Chili Con III: The Search for Spork, it will be a take home experience that’ll take place on Saturday February 27, 2021.
The lineup for 2021 will consist of six participating local breweries where each one will create a chili and beer pairing for judging by the people. This year’s breweries include: Ex Novo Brewing, StormBreaker Brewing, Modern Times Beer, Ecliptic Brewing, Little Beast Brewing, and the on-site BinaryBrewing.co. Like every year Uptown Beer Co. will be donating a portion of each ticket to a non-profit organization ensuring all have access to healthy food. This year the non-profit will be the Oregon Food Bank.

Chef Tony’s launching side pizza operation this week
The Mediterranean-style Bethesda seafood restaurant Chef Tony’s is launching Hemi Pizza this week a new pickup and delivery concept serving Detroit-style pizza.
Detroit style pizzas are distinctive for being rectangular, and for their use of Focaccia-style dough and buttery crust, according to Hemi Pizza’s website. The pizza style got its name after Detroit restaurant Buddy’s pizza started making it in rectangular steel pans in 1946.
Binary Brewing Cans 8-Bitte Helles Lager + Motherboard Milk Stout

PORTLAND, Oregon – BinaryBrewing.co is expanding their small-batch run of brewery fresh cans to include two of their core brews: 8-Bitte Helles Lager and Motherboard Milk Stout. The release is set for Monday, January 18th. These cans will be available directly through BinaryBrewing.coâs taproom, on their website and Running Man Distributing. This run of canning production finally brings a cult neighborhood brewery to beer coolers across the Portland area. These two new canned beers are crafted from two recipes that have been perfected since the breweryâs beginnings.

Truman Medical Centers: Regular testing hours are weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon. Both Truman Medical Centers sites – the Lakewood Campus at 7900 Lee’s Summit Road and the Hospital Hill site at 2301 Holmes Road. TMC will provide testing, but only for persons who are experiencing at least one COVID-19 symptom. For any person’s first COVID-19 test, there will be no charge. Lynn Trimble New Things
Check out metal sculptures by Sean T. French, whose work has been featured in settings from Alwun House to Burning Man, during the opening for his New Things exhibit at The Icehouse, which takes place from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, January 1. Expect immersive lighting, fire spinning, art cars, and works created with artists from the Snood City Neon creative space on Grand Avenue. The opening is free, but you should RSVP online before attending.
A World of Illumination
You can catch a final bit of Christmas cheer before you ring in 2021 over at Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek, where their holiday celebration continues from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday, December 28 through Thursday, December 31. Admission is $15. You’ll need additional tickets for some activities, including the train ride, obstacle course, and outdoor ice skating.
