Sonoma County Planning Commission to Hear Draft Winery Events Ordinance | Press Releases | Media & Outreach | Permit Sonoma

Santa Rosa, CA  –  May 18, 2021  –  Permit Sonoma has published Sonoma County’s first draft Winery Events Ordinance, which would set new standards for winery events like parking requirements, food service, event coordination, traffic management, and noise standards to address the impact of winery visitor-serving uses on agricultural land.  “The wine industry plays a critical role in Sonoma’s economy,” said Tennis Wick, Director of Permit Sonoma. “We are proud to work with the industry and neighbors to develop regulations which balance winery needs while protecting our rural communities and agriculture.” The standards will provide a baseline for how the County balances preservation of agricultural areas with sustainable development of wine industry events when evaluating individual projects and their impacts. UPDATE: Suspect in custody following armed standoff on Westside Road: Vernon RCMP | iNFOnews

May 18, 2021 - 1:59 PM RCMP have a suspect in custody following an armed standoff on Westside Road near Vernon today. Police say in a media release this afternoon, May 18, one person has been taken into custody. Officers were called to an incident involving a firearm around 7:30 a.m. at the home on Westside Road. RCMP do not say where on Westside Road the standoff happened. A perimeter was established around the residence. RCMP dog services were on the scene along with the heavily armed officers from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team. RCMP were asking the public to avoid the area. They were also asking anyone in the area not to share the location or activities of police on social media, as such action could jeopardize safety.

Ontario woman says she choked on screw in Tim Hortons iced coffee and was only offered free lunch

  TORONTO An Ontario woman who says she choked on a screw found in a Tim Hortons iced coffee believes the company s response to the incident has been a huge slap in the face. Port Colborne woman Carolyn Wells said her daughter came to visit her on April 23 and brought over iced coffees from the Tim Hortons near her house. We were drinking the iced coffee and I started choking, Wells told CTV News Toronto over the phone. I couldn t breathe. The 46-year-old said her daughter jumped up and attempted to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre but it wasn t working.  She ended up having to pound on my back to dislodge the screw, Wells said. Then it went flying across the floor.
