KILLBUCK The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 7079 along Front Street in is celebrating its Diamond Jubliee in April, and the club was honored for this accomplishment at last month s district meeting. We will be holding a celebration of 75 years as a nonprofit veterans organization on Saturday, April 24, said Senior Vice-Commander Larry Oswald. During the day we will be open to members only, but from 7 to 11 p.m. we will be open to the public. Local DJ Dave Tennant will provide the entertainment.
Club Commander Booby Smith said April 24 is the exact date the VFW received its charter in 1946. It is an honor to carry on the tradition of our fellow veterans, Smith said. It has been 75 years since we became an organization here in Killbuck. We didn t know we were getting recognized by the district. It was a surprise to us.
