Victoria COVID cases grow by 22; NSW hard border enacted

Business Minister Martin Pakula said on Wednesday that pubs, clubs and other licensed venues will now be eligible for new payments of $4200 on top of the $3000 available for the first five days of lockdown. Other businesses eligible for the state payments can claim another $2800 in addition to the $2000 made available last week. Businesses in Victoria’s ski fields, which have seen their peak season hit hard by the lockdown and have been able to claim $15,000 from the government, will get access to another $3000.

Victoria Covid update: cases reach 10-month high, with 22 new local infections

Foley said the state government’s decision to isolate the secondary contacts of primary close contacts of Covid-19 cases was paying off, with half of the new infections reported on Wednesday being household contacts of primary close contacts. Over 18,000 primary close contacts and over 10,000 secondary close contacts are currently isolating across the state.
