Dry skies turn soggy for the weekend Widespread showers returns Saturday morning and last updated 2021-04-23 16:47:23-04 MISSOULA — After a cloudy end to our work week, rain and snow return for the beginning of our weekend. After Thursday’s cold front, cooler than average temperatures have set in across Western Montana. Cooler air sticks around for the weekend with highs Saturday and Sunday topping out in the low to mid 50s. Rain returns Saturday mid-morning and afternoon. Moisture moves into West-Central Montana first before becoming scattered across the northwest and southwest. Rain and snow mix into mountains while rain falls onto valley floors.

Winter weather returns to Western Montana Thursday morning Passes and high elevation roads will be slick and last updated 2021-04-07 18:02:28-04 MISSOULA — Wind picks up and clouds move in this Wednesday evening. A cold front is approaching from the northwest, and will slide through our area late Wednesday/early Thursday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for 3-10 AM in the West Glacier region. Snow accumulation above 4500’ in these areas will be around 2-4”, but above 5500’ will be closer to 3-6”. A Winter Weather Advisory is also in effect for 3-10 AM Thursday for elevations along the I-90 corridor that are above 3500’.

Some Areas Received Much Needed Precipitation Roller-Coaster Ride of Weather this Week and last updated 2021-04-05 23:08:04-04 Several areas, especially across West-Central Montana, received measurable precipitation in the last 24 hours. This moisture will be very beneficial to areas that have been very dry over the last several weeks. Unfortunately other parts of the area, including the Hi-Line and Eastern Montana, missed out the much-needed moisture. Drought conditions will continue to persist in these areas. Warmer and drier air will move into the region over the next few days with lots of sunshine. Temperatures will once again be above average for much of the region.

Cano’s body was recovered via helicopter Sunday. The Flathead Avalanche Center has extended its warning issued Friday for the Swan, Whitefish and Flathead mountain ranges through Tuesday, saying travel through avalanche terrain is not advised and there are very dangerous avalanche conditions.
