MNPD Chief announces addition to Office of Alternative Policing Strategies

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) â Metro Nashville Police Chief John Drake announced the expansion of the recently created office of Alternative Police Strategies.
Terrence Graves will join the office and work alongside Inspector David Imhof. Their goal is to develop and advance three priorities: Juvenile Diversion, the Creation of a Mental Health Crisis Intervention Team, and Gun Violence Intervention.
Graves is a 23-year MNPD veteran, who has commanded operations at the North Precinct for the past nine years.
âCaptain Graves is passionate about dissuading juveniles from violence and reducing gun crime,â Chief Drake said in a press release. âThe new work he is undertaking with Inspector Imhof will be important for Nashvilleâs public safety both now and into the future.â

A man fatally shot by a newspaper carrier April 17 at the Waterfront Vancouver carried a hunting knife, police say, but court records do not indicate that he produced the weapon before he was shot.
The man, identified as 29-year-old Kin K. Bossy, had been attempting to steal the carrier’s car when he was shot multiple times, according to a search warrant affidavit filed Tuesday in Clark County District Court.
9-year-old boy critical after self-inflicted gunshot wound in Fairfield: Police

A 9-year-old boy is fighting for his life at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound Thursday evening in Fairfield, police said.
Around 5:05 p.m. Thursday, officers from the Birmingham Police Department’s West Precinct responded to the 5100 block of Myron Massey Boulevard in Fairfield on a call of a child shot, said police spokesman Sgt. Rod Mauldin.
The 9-year-old boy was taken to Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Mauldin said.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.

RIDGETOP, Tenn. (WTVF) â A manhunt got underway Friday morning near Ridgetop after two pursuit suspects bailed from a stolen car. One of them remains at large.
Metro police said the ordeal began around 10:20 a.m. when West Precinct officers were notified of a stolen vehicle in the area. They spotted the car and followed it, but Metro Police Spokesperson Kris Mumford said they did not pursue it.
A MNPD helicopter followed the car into Kentucky, where Kentucky State Police began pursuing it. At one point, the driver tried to strike a KSP trooper â although Mumford said itâs still unclear whether the trooper was inside or outside of the vehicle.
