The Election Commission (EC) issued a notice to West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh for his alleged remarks over the Cooch Behar firing during the assembly polls, saying that they were provocative and could lead to a breakdown of law and order. Ghosh said that there would be Sitalkuchi in several places , a reference to the killing of four people in firing by CISF during poll violence.

Ahead of the fifth phase of the West Bengal Assembly Election, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate from the Chopra constituency Hamidul Rehman on Tuesday issued a death threat to WB CM Mamata Banerjee s friend-turned-foe and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari. Rehman said that Adhikari is alive because he arrived in the constituency on a chopper, but if he arrived by road instead, he would have been killed by the people.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee turned to painting, her favourite hobby, while sitting at a dharna at Kolkata s Gandhi Murti to protest against the 24-hour campaigning ban imposed on her by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Sitting alone at the protest venue, without any TMC supporters or leaders, Banerjee took out her paintbrushes, colours and an empty canvas. She poured colours on the palette, made some brushstrokes and produced a painting.
