Billings shooting disturbance sends 34-year-old man to hospital Sunday morning Billings Police Department and last updated 2021-01-17 19:00:40-05 BILLINGS — A bullet from a separate shooting struck a 34-year-old man at 12:44 a.m. Sunday in a parking lot in the 1600 block of Avenue D in Billings, according to a tweet from the Billings Police Department. The victim arrived at a local hospital via a private vehicle with non-life threatening injuries, according to the tweet. Police believe the victim was not involved in the original disturbance, where a man began shooting a firearm at another group of people. The suspects fled before police arrived on scene and have not yet been identified, according to the tweet.

Tearoom brings Russian culture to Billings

Arisa Eskendarova opened her tearoom in Billings with the hope of teaching Montanans about Russian culture. Alissa’s Russian House with Love at 1212 Grand Avenue opened in October, and offers desserts, coffee, tea and a place where anyone can learn the Russian language. Alissa is a nickname her family gave her in Russia. “It’s a little piece of my homeland,” Eskendarova said. The 1,200-square-foot tearoom is welcoming, with a mural of Saint Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow on one wall, sets of Russian nesting dolls and tea cup table centerpieces. Starting after the new year, the tearoom will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The company announced Tuesday it will open the store in the former Lucky s Market location at the Westpark Promenade. Town & Country Foods currently operates two grocery stores in Bozeman and one each in Belgrade, Dillon, Livingston and Lewistown. “We recognized immediately that the West Park Promenade was a perfect location for us to enter the Billings market,” said company president Travis Frandsen in a press release. The company will begin construction in January and is hoping to open their doors to the public by July. Their hybrid format includes the traditional and conventional products customers need along with the natural, organic and local options, the press release states.
