Less than 10 remain without power following overnight storm

After heavy rain, snow, and winds swept through the state overnight and left thousands without power Saturday morning,
9 customers in the northeastern and northwestern parts of Massachusetts remained in the dark Saturday night.
A wind advisory with gusts up to 50 miles per hour had been in effect
until 2 p.m. for eastern parts of the state, including Boston, Quincy, Dorchester, Plymouth, Barnstable, Marthaâs Vineyard, and Nantucket, according to the National Weather Service. By late Saturday afternoon, much lower wind speeds, around 14 mph, were recorded at Logan International Airport.
Gastonia police are investigating a hit and run after a Kings Mountain man was struck by a car and killed while walking along the shoulder of West Franklin Boulevard.
Sgt. J. Ewers said police were called to the scene near the intersection of West Franklin Boulevard and Sante Circle just east of Sadler Elementary School shortly before 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
They discovered the body of 33-year-old James Marshall Nichols. Police said Nichols was walking from Kings Mountain to Gastonia along the side of the eastbound lane of West Franklin Boulevard when he was struck. It s a terrible way to start Christmas Eve, Ewers said.

Two have been arrested on gun charges In Monterey. Two others have been also been arrested for obstructing and resisting arrest in connection to an incident in Monterey.
Police responded to the 700 block of West Franklin on Wednesday on a report of people fighting. Officers said they saw a juvenile with a large bulge in his waistband and another person, identified as 20-year-old KeShaun Brittain, with a rifle sticking out of his waistband.
The officers said that they told the two to stop which they did. Officers then approached the two and took an AR-15 from Brittain and an airsoft pistol from the juvenile.
