There are extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada. None of the alerts are into Ontario, as yet. The Weather Service reports that bitterly cold north winds will bring extreme wind chills of -40 to much of southern Manitoba overnight and into Thursday morning. A warm front will pass through the province Christmas eve which will bring above normal temperatures for Christmas day. For the City of Winnipeg, it is currently -20 under clear skies with winds from the north at 30 km/h. The overnight low will be -29, however the wind chill will make it feel more like -32 this evening and -42 overnight. This means exposed skin is subject to frostbite in minutes.

NetNewsLedger 354 KENORA – WEATHER – Travel on the Trans-Canada Highway, from Kenora to Winnipeg will present challenges today. There is a winter storm warning in effect issued by Environment Canada. The weather service says a winter storm will affect southern Manitoba beginning this morning. Storm total snowfall will be between 10 to 25 centimetres by Wednesday morning. This storm is caused by a strong low pressure system that will track along the international border today, bringing heavy snow, strong winds, and blowing snow to southern Manitoba. Snow is expected to begin in the southwest this morning and spread north and eastward throughout the day and continue into Wednesday morning.
