Firefighters have praised the actions of homeowners in Trinity, after a housefire late last night.
By closing the door to the bedroom, they confined the flames and smoke damage to the one room.
Crews were called to the incident on Trinity main road at 10:17pm. A second fire engine was dispatched from the Western Fire Station and on-call fire fighters were paged into the town HQ.
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus went into the home, with a thermal imaging camera and put the fire out quickly.
Once the fire had been put out the smoke was cleared with a ventilation fan.
FIREFIGHTERS were called out to save a property from flooding during heavy rain.
Carlisle West Fire Station received the call last night at 10.45pm after rising water levels threatened the electrics at a home in Moorhouse, a village to the east of the city. The crew were at the scene for about two hours. A spokesman for the Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said the water, which was a number of inches deep, was pumped into a nearby field. Earlier that evening the crew, plus another from Carlisle East Fire Station, had attended an oven fire at a property in Longlands Road, Carlisle.
