Tabari Wallace has been offered a new position under State Superintendent, Catherine Truitt at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as Special Advisor to the State Superintendent in the area of principal engagement.
“We are beyond proud of Mr. Wallace and all that he has accomplished for our students in Craven County Schools, said superintendent Meghan S. Doyle. He will be greatly missed in our district, but we are very happy that we will have the opportunity to continue partnering with him in this new role. We are convinced that he will return to us again in the future. Mr. Wallace’s impact has already been felt beyond our county and we are confident that he will continue to have a positive impact locally. We congratulate him and cannot wait to see all that he accomplishes in this new position.”
The helicopter chased a car along the A56 around 12.40am on Thursday. A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “Our officers assisted Greater Manchester Police and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in stopping a black VW Passat, suspected to be stolen, being driven from Bury towards Haslingden. “The vehicle was followed by NPAS into Accrington before being abandoned on Barnfield Street. “Two men ran from the vehicle, and went into hiding nearby, but were quickly located by the helicopter and our police dogs. “Two locked safes were recovered from the vehicle. “A 19-year-old and a 26-year-old, both from Accrington, were arrested and are currently in custody in Greater Manchester.”
LAST week’s mystery structure was a memorial built in 2000 to mark the start of the new millennium. It is, as correctly identified by several people, in Thornton-in-Craven, at the junction of Church Road and the A56, and was built by Mark Chadwick, says his sister, Andrea Day, of Carleton. Other readers to recognise the memorial, which includes a built in clock, and seat, were Cynthia Thornton of Low Bradley, Michael Townson of Barnoldswick, Linda Curtin, Kate Ellison, and Valerie Corbridge, Barnoldswick. The memorial is just one of many others around Craven and the rest of the country built to commemorate the start of the new millennium.
