DENVER â Lakewood police officers shot and killed a man just north of West Colfax Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly pointed a handgun at them.
According to Lakewood Police Department spokesperson John Romero, the department was called out to Prestige Imports, near the intersection of West Colfax Ave. and Garrison St., on a report that a man was trespassing around some of the cars on the lot.

DENVER The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has launched a new plan focused on making streets make sense in areas where people, bikes, and cars often co-mingle.
It s called Safer Main Streets and is an initiative Danny Katz, the director of the Colorado Public Interest Research Group and chairman of Denver Streets Partnership, said he s been fighting for for years. Whether you re walking, biking, rolling, waiting for transit, or driving your own car, Katz said. Unfortunately, just too many streets just aren t safe right now.
Suspect shot during attempted carjacking on Christmas Eve, police say

DENVER A carjacking suspect was taken to the hospital after being shot Thursday morning, Denver Police Department (DPD) said.
DPD tweeted at 10:10 a.m. that officers were investigating a shooting in south Denver.
According to DPD, a suspect tried to carjack a person near Speer Boulevard and Colfax Avenue and the carjacking victim shot the suspect.
The suspect then fled and attempted a second carjacking in the area of Downing Street and Buchtel Boulevard.
