A Jamestown man who led police on a high-speed pursuit before crashing on railroad tracks is facing a host of charges.
The Jamestown Police Department announced the arrest of 40-year-old Michael G. Newman on Friday that began as a traffic stop around 9:40 p.m. in the area of West Eighth and Washington streets.
In a news release, JPD said during the stop Newman “took off at a high rate of speed.”
At one point during the pursuit, Newman reportedly struck a parked vehicle in a driveway off Locust Alley. He then drove down a steep embankment, from West Third to West Second streets, where he gained access to the railroad tracks.
