HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK, HI - MAY 15: An ash plume rises from the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii s Big Island on May 15, 2018 in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Hawaii. The U.S. Geological Survey said a recent lowering of the lava lake at the volcano s Halemaumau crater has raised the potential for explosive eruptions at the volcano.

Since the La Soufrière s eruptive activity in April 2021, recent report by the seismic network shows that tremors have remained low at La Soufrière but persistent steaming has been observed.
The La Soufrière volcano in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has been inactive since 1979, but its seismic activity in December 2020 has worried volcanologists when a new lava dome began to grow southwest of the pre-existing 1979 lava dome, accompanied by increased seismicity, crater incandescence, and gas-and-steam emissions.

The Government of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has lowered the volcanic alert level at La Soufrière to ORANGE based on recommen-dation from The University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre (UWI-SRC).
UWI-SRC/MVO Volcano-seismologist and current Scientific Team Lead, Roderick Stewart made the recommendation to the Cabinet on Tuesday May 4, during his update on the current activity at the volcano.
Mr. Stewart indicated that the recommendation was being made given that there have been no explosions at the volcano since April 22, and the number of volcanic earthquakes recorded has also decreased significantly.
