RECFISHWEST says it s delighted to announce the Recreational Fishing Initiatives Fund-funded celebration of the iconic West Aussie salmon is back, including the three-month long, free-to-enter Salmon Slam 2021 fishing comp and the Albany Salmon Spectacular fishing extravaganza over the Easter weekend.
Reports indicate the salmon are already moving in schools around Esperance with a couple of schools spotted east of Albany and even near Denmark too – although these might be residential schools.
The Salmon Slam 2021 kicked off on Monday, 1 March, with a heap of great fishing prizes up for grabs, with a top prize of a dinghy, outboard motor and trailer combination valued at $9,000.

A Perth plumber has built an epic floating bar that can hold six adults and a full esky of beer, perfect for hot days on the water.
The boat, appropriately named Bottoms Up , was created for Australia Day festivities to provide one man and his group of mates the perfect opportunity to sink some cans while relaxing in the sun.
Mark Quattrini told PerthNow the group christened the vessel on Tuesday to enjoy some well-earned beverages.
