The man entered a business at the Riverside Tech Park, causing people inside to flee, but it was unclear if the shooting took place inside or outside, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) A shooting at a Maryland Business park Tuesday left two people critically injured and the suspect dead, police said, while the U.S. Navy reported an “active shooter incident” at Fort Detrick involving sailors.
The shooter went into a business, causing people inside to flee, Frederick Police Chief Jason Lando said. He could not say whether the shooting was inside or outside. He said after that shooting the suspect drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick and was killed there. The first shooting happened at the Riverside Tech park, about 4 miles (6 kilometers) from Fort Detrick. The Navy did not release further details.

After the shooting, the medic drove about 10 minutes to Fort Detrick, where he was shot by base personnel, Lando said at a news conference. The U.S. Navy released an initial statement saying there was an “active shooter incident” at Fort Detrick “involving U.S. sailors” and that the shooter, a Navy medic assigned to the base, was killed.

FREDERICK, Md. Maryland police responded Tuesday morning to an active shooter situation near Fort Detrick in Frederick, authorities confirmed.
Frederick Police announced on Twitter that they were “responding to an active shooter” emergency on Progress Drive near Monocacy Boulevard.
“Currently there are two victims and one suspect is down,” police said.
Police confronted the suspect at Fort Detrick, a military base located nearby, according to FOX 5 in Washington, D.C. The military installation was under lockdown for several hours following the shooting.
Additional details were not immediately available.
We are on scene responding to an active shooter in the 8400 block of Progress Drive. Currently there are two victims and one suspect is down.
