Rochelle L. Ford, Ph.D., APR, became the dean of Elon University’s School of Communications in June 2018, overseeing more than 80 full-time faculty and staff, six undergraduate majors and one master’s degree program. From 2014-2018,she served as a tenured professor and chair of the Public Relations Department in the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, responsible for all public relations programs at PRWeek’s top-ranked institution. Additionally, Ford served as a Provost Faculty Fellow, co-chairing its Middle States Accreditation process. Before joining Syracuse, Ford was a faculty member and associate dean at Howard University for 16 years, mentoring African-American public relations professionals and championing the diversity agenda within the PR industry. Tommy Bert Handley, 69, of Wichita Falls was welcomed into the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday, January 13, 2021.
Tommy was born on October 3, 1951, in Larned, Kansas, the middle child to Robert Handley and Elizabeth Schraeder. He joined the U.S. Army in 1971 and was first stationed in Korea, where he met the love of his life, Suk K. Ko. They were married on November 26, 1972. His leadership qualities were recognized by a commanding officer who mentored and encouraged him to become an officer. After 21 dedicated years of service, he retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 3; a decorated veteran, who received the Legion of Merit Award.

A time capsule placed this week in the Bellisario Media Center largely focuses on one aspect of the Penn State community: its people.
The sealed metal box, slightly larger than a typical automobile battery, was packed with a variety of materials and publications, including recent copies of The Daily Collegian, a Penn Stater magazine from the Penn State Alumni Association, and annual reports from the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications. The capsule also includes a commencement program from the spring and samples of Penn State-branded masks and hand sanitizer that were handed out to all students, faculty and staff during the fall semester.

Lindsey Satterwhite, RN, BSN, in the Vascular Lab and Brooklyn Procise, RN, in Acute Care were nominated for the award for their contributions to excellent patient care.
The DAISY Award was given to Connie Puryear, RN, BSN, Clinical Nurse II, in Home Health and Hospice, for exemplary care of a patient and their family in their time of need. The daughter of the patient submitted a heart-felt nomination that included, âI saw the relief roll off my parents when Connie walked in the door. She was their angel there to support them. I hope VCU Health CMH is proud knowing Connie is a part of their organization. When our time comes I hope we have an angel like Connie.â
