For 2021, the United Nations has set the day to focus on the role women are playing in fighting COVID-19 but also notes that the pandemic has put extra work onto women who typically handle more of the burdens of childcare and remote schooling. [It is] particularly affecting those at the early stages of their career, and thus contributing to widening the existing gender gap in science and revealing the gender disparities in the scientific system, which need to be addressed by new policies, initiatives and mechanisms to support women and girls in science, the UN said.

KENOSHA, Wis. - A defendant who was 15 when he fatally stabbed a friend in a Kenosha high school classroom has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.
According to court documents, Timothy Carson had a falling out with Des Jon Taylor before stabbing him in the chest at Bradford High School in April 2017. Taylor collapsed in a hallway and died two days later at the hospital.

Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Mary Wagner sentenced Carson Thursday to 10 years for reckless homicide and a year for getting into a fight while in jail.

National Association of Realtors moves to ban hate speech, and not just at work

In what some consider one of the most far-reaching social policy moves in the corporate world, the National Association of Realtors, called the nation’s largest trade organization, has revised its professional ethics code to ban “hate speech and harassing speech” by its 1.4 million members.
Under the new policy, real estate agents who insult, threaten or harass people based on race, sex, or other legally protected characteristics can be investigated, fined or expelled. Its online training sessions offer a glimpse at how difficult the rules can be to enforce.
