Governor Emmanuel urges U.S to delist Akwa Ibom from list of unsafe states “Pockets of crime cannot render our state insecure,” the governor says. ADVERTISEMENT Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has urged the U.S. Government to delist the state from the list of unsafe states in Nigeria. Mr Emmanuel made the request during a courtesy visit by U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mary Leonard, at Government House, Uyo, on Wednesday. According to him, listing Akwa Ibom among the unsafe states in Nigeria was pushing away investors, hence, inimical to the industrialisation drive of the state government.
