  WINNIPEG The former Hudson s Bay store in Downtown Winnipeg was the topic of conversation Thursday afternoon at a virtual summit held by Heritage Winnipeg to discuss the historic structure and its significance to the city. The Bay closed late last year and Heritage Winnipeg is looking at what it should be used for next. During the summit, there were several speakers that ranged from historians and architects to real estate professionals and urban planners. Mary Rowe, who is the president and CEO of the Canadian Urban Institute, was one of the speakers during the event and said now is the time to get creative with the empty landmark and all ideas should be discussed.

He was born on May 26, 1963, in Laurium to John “Jack” Rowe and Mary (Meneguzzo) Rowe. He attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1981. Following High School, Joe worked for Gaslight General Store in Copper Harbor, Peterlin Distributing, Rowe Oil, and MJO Contracting where he had been working for the past 20 years. Joe was a handyman. His favorite hobby was crafting many different wood creations, specializing in Intarsia. Joe loved spending time at his Dad’s garage and with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Every day was filled making memories with family and friends.

Broward Schools Push Free Online Tutoring to Get Kids Back on Track

Marie Rho is an instructional facilitator during the school day, and after the bell rings, she teaches kids through Ask Bria.  “We literally help from kindergarten all the way to high school and so we have parents sometimes that continually call us because the work is very difficult for them to understand and explain to their children,” Rho said. “Content area does not matter. We help with math, English, writing, whatever the student needs at that time.” Right now, anywhere from 300 to 500 students use the service every week, but Broward Schools is trying to ramp up that number because it sees this as a tool to re-engage students who are falling through the pandemic cracks.
