Regarding the story of the Lawrence + Memorial Auxiliary s Community Outreach Committee, Committee delivering cheer to area nursing home residents, (Dec. 4), I want to relate a heartwarming moment that occurred Thanksgiving afternoon. Mary Rivera, the therapeutic recreation director at Beechwood called me from the room of a resident, Harold Arkava, so that I could speak with him. I can only visit Harold outdoors on the patio of the facility, and now, with the colder weather, only through a window on the ground floor. It was wonderful that Mary took the time on Thanksgiving Day to visit with Harold and other residents and reach out to their relatives and friends so that they could connect.
